Australian specialty coffee company, Padre Coffee, has opened its first-ever Sydney store, marking the occasion with the launch of an exclusive coffee.
The store, located in Paddington’s Five Ways, is the first of its kind for Sydney’s eastern suburbs – a multi-purpose coffee concept store, including an espresso bar, a retail section selling Padre Coffee’s signature espresso blends and home-brewing equipment, and a dedicated coffee training and education space.
The specialty coffee roaster has celebrated the launch of the Paddington store, which officially opened its doors this week. The store marks Padre Coffee’s first foray into the Sydney coffee market, after growing a following across its roasteries and retail stores in Melbourne and Noosa.
Founded by coffee aficionado, Marinus Jansen, in 2008, Padre Coffee was born amid Melbourne’s then-emerging specialty coffee scene.
Fast forward 15 years and Padre Coffee is now home to two roasteries and five stores in Melbourne and Noosa, while also providing its signature blends to more than 200 café, wholesale, and retail partners across Australia and overseas. They are set to further expand in NSW in the coming months, providing coffee for popular cafes across the Illawarra, Camden, and the South Coast.
Head of Padre Coffee NSW, Ben White, said, “The launch into the Sydney market is a natural progression of the business. Sydneysiders are well-known for taking their coffee seriously – and so are we. It’s a good fit and we’re excited to continue to grow and share the Padre Coffee vision and brand.”
The store is also set to offer educational and interactive events for coffee enthusiasts and casual sippers alike in the coming months, designed to take drinkers from bean-to-cup for a unique coffee experience.
Ben White said he was hopeful Padre Coffee Sydney would become an intrinsic part of the city’s coffee culture.
“People and connection are at the heart of everything we do, and Padre Coffee are no strangers to opening ourselves up to new communities. Our approach is always centered around education, which is why we have such an extensive range of coffee and retail products, as well as a dedicated training space.”
The new store has also created jobs for baristas from across the city, with nearly a dozen professional pourers joining the Padre Coffee ranks.
Padre Coffee Sydney is located at 241A-241B Glenmore Road, Paddington. It is open from 7am to 3pm Monday to Sunday.
